Four Weddings and a Funeral
I've never seen that movie, but as it turns out life does imitate art.
We played the most perfect wedding today. The scenery on the super back roads county highways on the way there were beautiful. We even passed a wind farm! And the church was pretty small, but quite well set up, with our group in the choir loft. The acoustics were amazing!
The bride had some of the best timing ever. All the pieces we played during the ceremony lined up EXACTLY with how long it took her to do whatever part of the ceremony we were in. Becky, you win the #1 bride award!!!
Last night I got a cold call to play for a funeral service on Sunday. The guy who passed away developed foods for Kraft. He wanted joyful celebratory music for the event, so the funeral home looked on-line and called me. Since we had a wedding today, I had an easy time coordinating another gig for tomorrow.
I've been watching a lot of Six Feet Under lately, so the funeral gig is timely. Also, my dad grew up above the family funeral home, so I guess I'm part of a funeral family! He keeps telling me more people die than get married so we SHOULD play more funerals. Tomorrow is our start!
The month of June is netting me rehearsals for a musical (that plays in July) along with a total of four weddings and a funeral. Voila!

I'm glad the website is bringing in the business. I've been meaning to transcribe some more music.
I suppose the thing with playing funerals is almost no notice. People don't usually plan those months in advance.
